Lorain County Public Health monitors water quality of Lorain County’s swimming beach waters to ensure health and safety to protect people from injury and prevent the spread of disease.
Lorain County Public Health tests recreational waters for bacteria and notifies the public whenever bacteria levels present a potential health risk to those engaged in water activities. LCPH receives funds though the U.S. EPA and the Ohio Department of Health to monitor and test the water quality at the following Lorain County Lake Erie Beaches:
* "Miller Road Park Beach is closed indefinitely due to high water and related safety concerns. Both swimming and beach access are not permitted until further notice." - Avon Lake Parks & Recreation
Lorain County Public Health also monitors bacteria levels at campground swimming areas, and we inspect local public pools.
