8/8 -- When the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation recently ceased operations, many Ohioans incorrectly thought the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line, 1-800-QUIT-NOW, had ceased operations with it. Rest assured, the quit line has not quit on you. The Ohio Tobacco Quit Line is now housed at the Ohio Department of Health and continues to provide invaluable assistance to smokers who want to kick the tobacco habit.

The Lorain County General Health District Encourages Mothers to Breastfeed

8/6 -- The Lorain County General Health District Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program encourages new moms to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is the gold standard of infant nutrition. In fact, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends infants be exclusively breastfed for six months and that breastfeeding continue until the infant is at least one year old.

West Nile Virus Confirmed in Lorain County

8/6 -- Two pools of mosquitoes from Lorain County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. The mosquitoes were caught on June 25th and July 9th from Grafton and Columbia Townships, respectively.
