5/15 -- Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the U.S.  According to research from the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA), 56% of teens ages 16 to 20 years old killed in motor vehicle traffic accidents were not buckled up. In response, seven Lorain County high schools have campaigned to change habits and save lives.

5/9 -- On May 5, 2013 the Lorain County Safe Community Coalition recognized two local law enforcement personnel for their commitment to traffic safety promotion and prevention. The 2013 Safe Community Recognition Award recipients included Lt. Glenn Peterson from Ohio State Highway Patrol, and Deputy Tony Pluta from Lorain County Sheriff's Office and the Lorain County JVS.

5/3 -- To meet the needs of Southern Lorain County families, we announce an additional by-appointment Adult Immunization Clinic monthly in the Village of Wellington on the 1st Thursday of Every Month at the Wellington Fire House #2, 202 Kelly St., 9:00 am – 12 noon starting on Thursday, June 6th. Please call 440-322-6367 to make an appointment.

5/1 -- Bring friends, family and loved ones to the Lorain County Fitness Walks, a weekly Lorain County walking group that offers an opportunity to meet new people, get moving, improve heart health, maintain a healthy weight and increase strength. In May, the fitness walks will be taken outdoors, weather permitting.

4/30 -- SOLACE Lorain County is a newly formed chapter of a statewide group seeking to end the crisis of substance abuse, specifically prescription drug and opiate addiction in local communities.
