12/21 -- Through a Lorain County consortium, a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Lead-Based Paint Hazard Control Grant has made funding available to provide help to income-qualified homeowners. Landlords are also eligible to receive a loan that will be 100% forgiven over a five year period if the landlord abides with the terms of the loan and their tenants are income-qualified. Renters may apply on behalf of their landlord to receive assistance.

12/22 -- The Lorain County Safe Community Coalition's Fatality Review Committee meets throughout the year to review fatal crashes in an effort to see whether or not engineering, education or enforcement could be changed to prevent future fatal crashes in Lorain County.

12/2 -- On December 1, 2011, hundreds of Lorain County residents gathered in Lorain County Community College’s College Center to sample 19 non-alcoholic drinks at the 10th Annual Zero-Proof Mix-Off. This event kicks off the holiday season by encouraging Lorain County residents to keep the holiday season as a time to celebrate with family and friends, not a time to let alcohol or the effects of driving impaired ruin fun - or worse, a life.
