Take action to prevent the flu

Anyone can catch the flu. The flu strikes without warning and symptoms can be severe and life-threatening. To protect both you and your loved ones Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) will provide the flu vaccine this fall and throughout the flu season.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends a flu vaccine as the first and best way to protect yourself
and your family from the flu. Persons 6 months of age and older are encouraged to get a flu shot every year.
LCPH Health Commissioner, David Covell, MPH, RS, announced flu shot clinic dates and locations for the 2018 flu season, listed below.
Avon Lake: Wednesday, Oct. 24, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Wellington: Thursday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
North Ridgeville: Tuesday, Oct. 30, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Columbia Station: Wednesday, Oct. 31, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Lorain: Thursday, Nov. 1, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Elyria: Thursday, Nov. 1, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
and on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Oberlin: Saturday, Nov. 3, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Avon: Thursday, Nov. 8, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
LaGrange: Tuesday, Nov. 13, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Amherst: Monday, Nov. 19, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
No appointment is necessary for community flu clinics.
LCPH will offer three preservative-free flu vaccine options this year...
- Flu shot for ages 6 months through 64 years
- High-dose flu shot for adults 65 years and older
- Nasal flumist for ages 2 years through 49 years
