Body Art (Tattoo and Body Piercing)

Body Art is regulated under Chapter 3730.01 of the Ohio Revised Code and Chapter 3701-0 of the Ohio Administrative Code.

“These rules were created to establish minimum standards, applicable throughout Ohio, for the operation and maintenance of body art facilities in order to protect the public from injury, minimize the potential for disease transmission, and provide a safe and healthy environment.”
-Ohio Department of Health

Creating Body Art is a unique talent, however, it can put tattooists and piercers at risk for coming into contact with their client’s blood, and being exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Tattooists and piercers can lower the chance of getting or being exposed to bloodborne diseases by getting vaccinated, preventing needlestick injuries, reducing cross contamination, following regulations, and reading up on industry specific issues.
