Lorain County General Health District
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training

12/28 -- Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training is scheduled for January and February. Sponsored by the Lorain County Board of Commissioners, Lorain County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security, and Lorain County Community College, CERT trains neighborhood community members to respond to a disaster effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in danger. During this team-based training, volunteers learn how to provide basic medical aid, put out small fires, search and rescue safely, organize themselves and other spontaneous volunteers effectively, and collect disaster intelligence to support trained professionals. In addition, the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General, which coordinates the Medical Reserve Corps program, recommends CERT training for MRC volunteers.
