The Lorain County General Health District's Vital Statistics Office houses the birth and death records beginning in 1908 to the present. Certificates of births and deaths occurring in all of Lorain County, except for the city of Lorain, are at the Health District.

Birth and death certificates are required for genealogy research, as well as many other needs. The vital statistics staff accommodates requests for information by mail, e-mail, telephone at (440) 322-6367, or in person at 9880 South Murray Ridge Road, Elyria.
