Food Safety Training: Levels 1 and 2

Restaurants, grocery stores, and other places that sell food follow the Ohio Food Code. One part of the code requires a “Person In Charge” to be on duty at all times in the establishment. To be a “Person In Charge,” a staff member needs to attend a Level 1 Training.


The health district will offer Level 1 Training on:


Monday, May 22, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Avon Miller’s Nature Preserve
2739 Center Rd. Avon, OH 44011

  • Cost: $30 per person
  • To register: call 440-322-6367

If your establishment has a risk level 3 or 4 license, one staff member per facility must complete Level 2 Certification in food protection. Follow these steps to get trained:

  • Take the online course:
    • Go to ServSafe.com
    • Point to the “Purchase” tab
    • Click on “ServSafe® Manager”
    • Under SERVSAFE FOOD SAFETY PRODUCTS, click on “Manager Online Training and Certification Exams”
    • Click on “ServSafe® Manager Online Course”
    • Click “Add to Cart”
    • Create a new profile if you do not have one
    • Follow the directions from there to purchase the online course
    • Fax us your Record of Training at 440-322-6010
  • Buy your answer sheet:
    • Go to ServSafe.com
    • Point to the “Purchase” tab
    • Click on the “ServSafe® Manager”
    • Under SERVSAFE FOOD SAFETY PRODUCTS Click on “Manager Training and Certification Exam Products”
    • Scroll down to “ServSafe® Exam Answer Sheet, Single”
    • Click “Add to Cart”
    • Create a new profile if you do not have one
    • Follow the directions from there to purchase the exam sheet
  • Call 440-322-6367 to reserve a spot for the following exam:
    • Monday, May 1, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sheffield Lake Community Center, 4575 Lake Rd. Sheffield Lake, OH 44054
